How is a military divorce different?

There are a couple of slight differences between a military and a civilian divorce. First, a default divorce proceeding must be postponed while the service member is on active duty, and for up to 60 days after they return.

Another difference is how child support is calculated. The California Guideline Calculation formula is still used, but child support payments cannot be over 60 percent of the service member’s pay.

As you can see, there are different nuances that come with military divorces. If you want an experienced family law attorney to handle your case, contact the Law Office of Torrence L. Howell to schedule a consultation.
