There are two types of custody when it comes to children.
Legal custody is the right to make legal decisions for your child. This includes what school to enroll them in and medical treatment cases. Typically, legal custody is shared by both parents. Physical custody is who has the child living with them. In many cases, physical custody is split between parents.
